Tree Walks
Carillon in Baker ParkFrederick City, MDDiscover Frederick’s diverse array of trees on walking tours.
The Board has created several tree walks, both guided and self guided around Frederick County. Guided walks are held on the Second Sunday at Baker Park or Hood College and on the Fourth Friday in the Gambrill Heights trail in Gambrill State Park.
Self guided tree walks are at Baker Park, Hood College, and Mt. Olivet Cemetary. Both Baker Park and Hood College tree walks are focused on trees, both native and non-native. Mt. Olivet contains sections on the history of the Cemetary as well as many exceptional trees. While we encourage those taking the walks to look at both, we also understand that everyone has different passions in their life. All trees on the self guided walk are tagged with the type of tree and a QR code link to the details about the tree.
